In the heart of the Complexo de Favelas da Maré, in Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone, the project O Sol Nasce para Todos was launched in 2022 — a partnership between Revolusolar, CEASM, and the Museu da Maré. The initiative brought solar energy to one of the region’s most symbolic cultural spaces, the Museu da Maré, a key reference in preserving local memory and identity. The location was no coincidence: in addition to being a hub of community gathering and resistance, the museum requires constant energy to sustain a vibrant program of workshops and events focused on education, culture, communication, memory, and the environment.
The project became a catalyst for social and environmental transformation. Public meetings, training workshops, and sustainability dialogues helped raise climate awareness and foster local leadership in solar energy. The clean energy now powering the library, archives, and the Marielle Franco children’s space also sparks new possibilities for the future of Maré residents, strengthening community protagonism and access to sustainable technologies in one of Brazil’s largest and popular territories.
