Instituto Favela da Paz, located in Jardim Ângela — one of the lowest-ranked neighborhoods on São Paulo’s Human Development Index — is a hub of community transformation that brings together collectives focused on healthy food, health, art, culture, and sustainability. In 2021, Revolusolar supported the installation of a photovoltaic system at the institute, integrating solar energy into the daily life of a space that has cultivated autonomy and well-being in the periphery for decades. The significant reduction in the electricity bill allowed the organization to redirect resources toward strengthening its social, educational, and cultural activities.
In the following years, the project expanded and connected to new initiatives. In 2023, local residents were trained and participated in the installation of solar panels at the Universidade do Samba cultural center, enhancing the neighborhood’s energy infrastructure while forming new solar energy professionals. The action brought together multiple partners — including Australian company Worley, Instituto Favela da Paz, the Australian Embassy in Brazil, CL Solar, and Revolusolar. In 2024, this movement led to the creation of the Associação Favela Solar, formed by families from the region who are now collectively building a path toward a just energy transition, generating direct environmental, social, and economic impact in the territory.
